Consideration List and Voting
Title submissions for award consideration are accepted from any Arkansas resident. The titles may be added to the consideration list and read by the committee and volunteer readers. Any Arkansas resident over the age of 18 and out of high school can volunteer to be a reader for the award.
A short list of nominees is selected by the committee.
Teens vote for their favorite titles to determine the ultimate winners of the award.
Voting for each set of nominees opens on October 1st and remains open until September 30th of the following year.
Schools are encouraged to hold “Early Voting” events for students in April or May.
Public libraries are encouraged to hold voting events for summer readers and homeschool groups prior to the close of voting in September.
Titles are considered for nomination from November through to the following March.
Reader Registration, book nomination and voting forms are available on the Arkansas Teen Book Award website.
Volunteer Readers
Any adult resident of Arkansas can sign up to be a volunteer reader for the Arkansas Teen Book Award and assist the committee during the consideration cycle.
Students who wish to earn volunteer time as a reader may read for the Arkansas Diamond Primary Award and the Charlie May Simon Award.
